You are viewing a used IMT brand knuckleboom crane. I bought the truck it was mounted on from a railroad that used the crane to perform maintenance on the railroad tracks. It is in good working condition. I have used it here on the farm to move some machinery and logs around with it and it works good.
You are getting the knuckle boom crane only! The truck and truck frame, toolboxes, rear winch, and railroad wheels and everything else you see in the photos that is not part of the crane is NOT included. The crane is designed to be a self contained unit with the hydraulic control valves, the outriggers, the boom base, reservoir and related crane parts all attached to the frame that sits down on the truck for ease of mounting and unmounting.
It hydraulically extends out to 15 feet of side reach. It has outriggers that slide out and then down for stability. You manually slide the legs out and then you hydraulically lower them down. They have chains on them to keep you from pulling them out too far. It all works like it should.
I searched around on it and I found a plate with the following numbers:
3B142511 F79
3C225411 G79
5B084710 E79
3B218412 E79
I do not know what they mean. I could not really find what to me looks like a ID plate with a model and serial number. Do you know where I should look?
I also could not read the diagram that shows the capacity of the crane at different radius around the crane, so I do not know what it will lift. But I picked up some big loads with it and it was impressive.
The truck it is mounted on is a 1985. I bet the crane was installed then as well. That year seems about right for it.
The crane is held in place by some long bolts that clamp it down to the frame. I have not looked under it to know, but most of these booms have a set of frame stiffeners that fit between the top and bottom lip of the frame rail so that when you clamp it down, you don't squeeze the frame rail lips together and have it loosen over time. If they are there, you get them. Usually the mounting bolts have to be cut off to remove them. I will try and unscrew the nuts and get the bolts off in one piece, but if I have to cut them to get it off, that is the way you get them. The same with the two hydraulic hoses that feed the crane from the pump. I will try and remove them so that you can reuse them, but sometimes that is not possible and they have to be cut to get them off. If that is the case, that is the way you get them.
This crane was mounted on a truck with a central hydraulic system to run the crane, a winch, the railroad wheels, and other hydraulic tools. You do not get this pump with the crane. It is a larger than necessary pump to just ran a crane, and it stays on the truck. The crane has the original reservoir still mounted on it, but it was not being used, as the hydraulic oil was part of the trucks central hydraulic system with one large remote mounted reservoir. You do not get this other reservoir with it as it stays on the truck. You get the one already mounted on the crane which will need to be cleaned before use, I don't think it was ever used and it is rusty.
There are dual controls for running the crane, a set on both sides.
The crane is not continuous rotation, you can go about one and a half times around before you have to go back the way you came. There is a stop on the turret that keeps you from going to far around and hurting the hoses.
When I got it, one of the main hoses was leaking so I replaced it. It does not leak now, but if it was me and I was going to remount it on a truck, I would replace all the hoses, at least the ones that go up through the center of the boom base. They are all older and the outer covering is flaking off. There really are not that many hoses on the crane, and I would replace them so you don't have to do it one at a time out in the field!
I will leave the crane on the truck for as long as I can in case you want to come play with it and see it working. But don't wait too long! As soon as some shop space opens up, I need to get that truck in as I have already sold the railwheels off it and I need to start taking it apart. I will remove the crane, cap the lines and have it ready to load for its new owner.
Check out my other items, I am also selling the Ramsey hydraulic winch you see in the photos in a different listing.
I can ship this to you truck freight or any way you want - (except in a box with the UPS man). I have no way to get you a quote until I remove it from the truck and weigh it. I only charge what it costs me to ship it. I bet the cheapest would be U-Ship. But I can't try that until after it sells so we know where it is going and what it weighs. If you want it dismantled some to make it fit on a smaller pallet for cheaper shipping, I can do so. As long as it is not too hard or time consuming, I won't charge to take it apart.
LOCAL PICK UP
I am a cattle farmer here in Mid-Missouri, so I am flexible about when you want to come and get items you have purchased from me, but I try
and keep a schedule for my families benefit. I ask that you come between 9:00 in the morning and 4:00 at night. I am not available on
Sundays whatsoever - that is God and family day, so don't ask! Just because I am a farmer does not mean that I am here everyday, I travel
around to auctions and surplus sales and am gone several times a week. So don't do like some folks have in the past and drive 800 miles to
get here and find out I am gone. You must contact me before you just show up! My granny always said that showing up unannounced was rude -
you have to give people notice so they can get presentable.
Payment
I require payment in full within one week of auctions end. Once it is paid for, there is no hurry for you to pick it up - take six months
if need be! If you don't come get it after six months have passed since the end of the auction, it will be resold, and my wife gets the
proceeds. If you have a legitimate reason why you need to wait longer than six months to pick up your purchase, contact me and we will work
something out. If you have any questions, you can e-mail or call me at (573) 219-6611. Thanks for looking and please check out my other
auctions!
CONTACT ME
If you have any questions about this item, or about delivery or shipping, you can call me or email me. Don't be shy! The only stupid
question is the one you are afraid to ask. I prefer email as it lets me answer questions at night when I am not busy and it gives me time to
find the right answer to your questions. I also run tractors and skid loaders here on the farm and a lot of times I do not hear my phone. I
also live in a rural area and in a lot of places I do not get phone service. One of the places I do not get good coverage is in my shop! So
if you can't get me on the phone, try back later or better yet, send me an email and I will get back with you.
You can send me an email through ebay and I will get back with you.
My cell phone number is: (573)219-6611
